Working with Ibibio Sound Machine followed the usual workflow for gigs at the Subrooms. We started by preparing the stage and ensuring all in-house equipment was set up and ready to go. Once the band arrived, we unloaded their gear, brought everything up to the stage, and got it positioned and assembled.

After the full setup was complete and each band member was comfortable with their layout, we moved into sound checks. This included dialing in monitor mixes, making any adjustments the musicians needed, and running through a few tracks to confirm everything felt right on stage.

Once the checks were finished and the band was happy, it was just a matter of waiting for doors to open. I wasn’t required for the show itself or for the load-out, so my role for this event was mainly focused on the setup process and listening in on the sound checks to make sure everything was running smoothly.
